Next she travelled to New York. Pearl wanted to blend in and bought herself a new set of clothes. There were people here from all over the world which made it easier to blend in. From way up high in the giant skyscrapers, all the people looked the same but on the street you could see and feel the different lives and the different stories.

It was all very puzzling. Peal felt at home here with so many different beliefs and nationalities. You didn't have to be born here but you did have to adopt the country as your own. Pearl didn't think she was ready to take on the challenge of becoming an American. So she said goodbye to New York and continued on her travels.
