Pearl began life in the back of an army truck.

She was just a piece of wood that was found one morning in Sefton Park, Liverpool.

She was taken and carved into human form.

There was no particular age or nationality attached to the face that came out of the splinters. There was no idea attached to the body. There was no price attached to the idea.

She was something that would never be put in a gallery but would grow and take on a life of its own.

Pearl took her name from the Native American Symbol of creativity which is the Raven carrying a Pearl out of the darkness and into the light.

She was carved out of frustration with Fine Art, Capitalism and the Criminal Justice Bill- a new law that further restricted the freedom of people.

The year was 1995.

When Pearl was completed hands and feet she started her journey.
